GN Espace launches Alize, the world’s first IPX5-rated electric grill designed for cooking on deck
GN Espace has unveiled the Alize Gastro Grill, the first IPX5-rated electric cooking appliance designed specifically for use on the deck of a yacht, both at anchor and at sea.
The all-important IPX5 waterproof rating means that the Alize Gastro Grill is tough enough to withstand waves and weather so owners and guests can enjoy the freedom of cooking in the open air. It’s a cleaner, quieter and more reassuring way to cook on board.
The need for onboard gas is removed entirely so the deck is transformed into a relaxed, social cooking space. There are no bottles to store, no open flames to manage and no fuel smells - just instant controlled heat that allows the cook to stay present in the moment, whether preparing breakfast at anchor, cooking for family and friends or finishing the day with fresh ingredients as the sun sets.
The Alize Gastro Grill is a low energy grill, running off 2kW connected load and 230v power supply. Yet it offers some great features. It has a fully variable temperature range from gentle simmering to high-heat searing with additional safety features like a RCD fuse.
Unlike adapted domestic BBQ grills, the Alize Gastro Grill has been purpose-built for life on the water. Its IPX5 rating makes it uniquely suited to exposed deck environments, so outside cooking is easy where electric cooking has traditionally been impractical. The Grill is manufactured from 316 marine grade stainless-steel and is supplied with a IP67 outdoor plug and cable. The result is a grill that feels like a natural extension of the boat - robust, dependable and genuinely enjoyable to use.
Market research carried out by specialist galley manufacturer GN Espace has highlighted that one of the biggest gripes of BBQing is having to clean the grill afterwards. The Alize Grill overcomes this with its easy easy-to-remove large Gastronorm grill plate, which can just be washed in the galley sink then stored in the galley with other cookware. This also ensures that best food practice while cooking hygiene can be maintained for the entire life of the Alize grill.
As with all GN Espace designs, the Grill has been thoughtfully designed around Gastronorm dishes, which allow integration with the galley below, so all dishes have multiple purposes. The deck grill uses a GN 1/1 cast aluminium dish, again with different upgrade options to best suit user needs.
There is a range of installation options to suit all boats and user needs, including table-top installation which comes as standard. Users also have the choice to upgrade to a push-pit mounting or pedestal mounting. Plus, there is a range of accessories and add-ons to suit all types of cooking.
With the Alize Gastro Grill, GN Espace continues its commitment to thoughtful marine design, redefining what’s possible for cooking on deck and setting a new benchmark for electric outdoor appliances afloat.
